Total sales at all stores in April 2012 amounted to 161,293 million yen, an increase of 115.2% year on year. Consolidated net sales of existing stores increased by 108.9% yoy. Average daily sales per store (all stores) amounted to 542 thousand yen. The average number of customers per store (existing stores) was 893, an increase of 102.3% yoy, and average spending per customer (existing stores) increased by 106.5% yoy, to 582 yen.

Gross profit margin of total sales excluding cigarettes of existing stores increased year on year.
The number of Ponta card members exceeded 40 million and members' sales shares of total sales kept increasing. Using customer purchasing data of those Ponta card members, Lawson developed new products and introduced fresh foods to stores in an attempt to expand the customer base by attracting more housewives and senior customers.

Sales in the rice and noodles, delicatessen, over-the-counter fast food, daily foods, and beverage categories sustained the growth trajectory of the previous month, exceeded 100% yoy. In particular, the over-the-counter fast food category saw a yoy sales growth, thanks to continued successful efforts to sell prepared foods.

Sales of private brand "Lawson select," which includes prepared foods daily necessities and beverage, continued to be robust.

In the fresh food category, enhanced fresh food-type LAWSON stores contributed to a substantial 130% yoy increase in sales.

Sales of cigarettes at existing stores rose about 113% yoy.

As of April 30, 2012, the Lawson Group was comprised of 10,639 stores in Japan, including 100 NATURAL LAWSON stores and 1,175 LAWSON STORE100 stores.

Existing store sales of Ninety-nine Plus, Inc. amounted to 101.3% of the previous year
(number of customers: 97.3%; sales per customer: 104.1%). In April, Ninety-nine Plus, Inc. opened 9 stores and closed no store, bringing the total number of stores to 1,175.

Lawson is slated for "the Spring Rilakkuma Fair" from February 28, 2012 to May 17, 2012.
