The sales result of LAWSON Business (LAWSON and NATURAL LAWSON) in April is as follows*1.
Existing-store sales (excluding ticket and gift card sales etc.) increased 1.1% year on year over the same period and the average number of customers per store decreased 1.5% and the average customer spend rose 2.7% year on year.
The Lawson Group operated 14,663 convenience stores in Japan at the end of April 2022, including 136 NATURAL LAWSON stores and 668 LAWSON STORE 100 stores.
<Sales situation>
・In frozen foods, frozen desserts and frozen fruits contributed to sales.
・In the "Machikado Chubo", an in-store cooking service, were strong. Especially, the sales of "Thick Pork Cutlet Sandwich" made with new bread were strong.
・In bakery (sandwiches etc.) category, "Beef Hamburg Steak & Cheese" drove the strong sales.
・In the cooked noodles, sales of cold noodles such as “Hiyashi Chuka” were strong due to warm days.
・In over-the-counter fast food products, sales were boosted by the "KARAAGE-KUN Fried Chicken,Tartar Sauce." Its single-day sales were the highest in KARAAGE-KUN series since 2009.
・In dessert category, sales were driven by the new eclair and other new products.
・As a sales promotion measure, a campaign “Dragon Ball Super” (April 20-May 9) and others were implemented.
Cigarette sales were a factor that pushed up existing-store sales in April by about 1.5 point year-on-year.
Note 1: Sales of the LAWSON Business include sales generated by LAWSON stores (excluding Lawson Okinawa, Inc., Lawson Minami-Kyushu, Inc., and Lawson Kochi, Inc.), NATURAL LAWSON stores.
