The sales result of Lawson, Inc. in November is as follows*1. Total sales at all stores in November amounted to 212,802 million yen, a 2.3% up year on year, and average daily sales per store (all stores) totaled 519 thousand yen*2. Existing-store sales (excluding ticket and gift card sales etc.) decreased 0.4% year on year over the same period and the average number of customers per store fell 2.1% and the average customer spend rose 1.7% year on year.

Below is a breakdown of the existing-store sales performance by individual merchandise categories.

Sales of bread (sandwiches etc.) category extremely increased thanks to a renewal of certain items and favorable sales of new full, scatter-style series sandwiches.

Thanks to an introduction of new Uchi Café dessert and constant contribution of “CUPKE (cake in a cup) “series, sales of dessert category increased drastically year on year.

Bakery category sales increased year on year, mainly due to sales increases of meal bread.

Sales of chilled drink category increased year on year because of favorable sales of new items and Lawson’s original drinks.

As a result of our continuous initiatives to expand product lineups, sales of daily delivered food and frozen food items extremely increased year on year.

Cigarette sales were almost flat in November.

The Lawson Group operated 14,644 convenience stores in Japan at the end of November 2019, including 143 NATURAL LAWSON stores and 769 LAWSON STORE 100 stores.

Regarding LAWSON STORE 100, existing-store sales fell 3.2% year on year in November (customer numbers: -5.6%; customer spend: +2.6%).

The existing LAWSON stores' sales in Japan (LAWSON and NATURAL LAWSON)*1 in November decreased 0.2% year on year.

Lawson is promoting a campaign of collecting stamps upon purchase until December 16, 2019 to help broaden its customer base.

On November 12, Lawson updated the status of its action plan launched in April, to support and build stronger relationships with franchise stores. In response to more severe circumstance due to changes in the social environment, we continue initiatives such as 1) franchise stores business support, 2) non-24 hour business, 3) new store opening policy to improve profitability, (4) more communication with franchise stores.

Note 1: Lawson, Inc. sales include sales generated by LAWSON stores (excluding Lawson Okinawa, Inc., Lawson Minami-Kyusyu, Inc., Lawson Kochi, Inc., and Lawson Sanin, Inc.), NATURAL LAWSON stores, and LAWSON STORE100 stores. The LAWSON operation in Japan consists of sales generated by LAWSON, Inc. excluding sales of LAWSON STORE100 stores.
Note 2: Total sales at all stores include figures of tickets and gift card etc. These sales differ from “Net sales of convenience stores” in our other disclosed documents.
