Total sales at all stores in February 2012 amounted to 151,281 million yen, an increase of 113.1% year on year. Consolidated net sales of existing stores increased by 105.1% yoy. Average daily sales per store (all stores) amounted to 534 thousand yen. The average number of customers per store (existing stores) was 845, a decrease of 98.7% yoy, and average spending per customer (existing stores) increased by 106.5% yoy, to 608 yen.
Gross profit margin of total sales excluding cigarette of existing stores increased year on year.
The number of Ponta card members reached approximately 40 million and members' sales shares of total sales kept increasing. Using customer purchasing data of those Ponta card members, LAWSON developed new products and introduced fresh foods to stores in an attempt to expand the customer base by attracting more housewives and elderly customers.
Sales in the rice and noodles category and fast food category sustained the growth trajectory of the previous month, exceeding 100% yoy. In particular, sales in the over-the-counter fast food category significantly increased from the previous year, thanks to strong sales in Oden (Japanese hot pot), Chinese buns and other hot foods, and successful prepared food category.
Sales of private brand "Lawson select," which included prepared foods and daily necessities, continued to be robust after the redesign in the end of October.
In the fresh food category, enhanced fresh food-type LAWSON stores (Hybrid Type) contributed to a substantial 165% yoy increase in sales.
Sales of cigarettes at existing stores rose 102% yoy.
Net sales at existing stores grew thanks to healthy ticket sales and sales of "Green-Jumbo lottery support to recover from the Great East Japan Earthquake".
As of February 29, 2012, the Lawson Group was comprised of 10,457 stores in Japan, including 100 NATURAL LAWSON stores and 1,172 LAWSON STORE100 stores.
Existing store sales of Ninety-nine Plus Inc. amounted to 98.9% of the previous year
(number of customers: 98.2%; sales per customer: 100.7%). In February, Ninety-nine Plus Inc. opened 10 stores and closed 10 stores, bringing the total number of stores to 1,172.
LAWSON is slated for "the Spring Rilakkuma Fair" from February 28, 2012 to May 17, 2012.
