  • Total sales for all stores in March 2011 stood at 151,189 million yen, a 10.0% increase on a year-on-year basis.  Consolidated net sales for the existing stores climbed 7.2% year on year.  Average daily sales per stores (all stores) were 518 thousand yen.  The average number of customers per store (existing stores) dropped by 0.7% compared with the same month last year to 847, and average sales per customer (existing stores) grew 7.9% year on year, to 592 yen.
  • Net sales for the existing stores in the LAWSON STORE 100 chain increased 9.6% from the same period of the previous year, while the number of customers rose by 4.9% and sales per customer rose by 4.5%, respectively.
  • A total of 389 stores were damaged by the Great East Japan Earthquake. Out of these, 332 stores have resumed operation.
  • Partly due to the impact of the disaster, net sales for the existing stores in the Tohoku region declined year on year.
  • Sales of cigarettes increased by approximately 25%, showing an earlier-than-expected recovery. Sales of non-tobacco products continued to increase year on year.
  • Sales in the rice and noodles category decreased year on year for the first time in 10 months because supply of goods temporarily discontinued after the disaster.
  • Sales of daily necessities such as instant noodles, processed foods, soft drinks and small electronic and other devices increased significantly compared with that of the same month of the previous year because consumers needed to stock up on basic supplies immediately after the earthquake.
  • As of March 31, 2011, the LAWSON Group was comprised of 9,982 stores in Japan, including 90 NATURAL LAWSON, 1,054 LAWSON STORE 100 and 28 SHOP99.
  • Ninety-nine Plus Inc. operated a total of 1,082stores, of which the number of new stores and closed stores were 5 and 0, respectively.
  • LAWSON is running the Spring Rilakkuma Campaign from March 1 through June 27, 2011.
