- Total sales for September 2007 were 122,029 million yen, up 3.5% year on year. Existing store sales increase 0.9% and average daily sales per store were 484,000 yen. The average amount spent per customer was 573 yen, up 0.5%, and the average number of customers per store per day was 841, up 0.4%.
Sales of cooked noodles, ice cream and soft drinks were strong, boosted by an Indian summer in Japan. Fast food category sales dropped year on year, as sales of oden (a Japanese hotpot dish) and Chinese steamed buns fell short of last September.
In the rice dishes category, rice ball and sushi sales were strong. However, overall sales decreased year on year due to another sluggish performance from boxed lunches.
LAWSON ran the One Piece Otakara Present campaign from September 1 through 17, offering the chance to win special prizes on One Piece (a popular Japanese anime) promotional products. In addition, LAWSON launched Autumn Rilakkuma Fair on September 18. These sales promotions have spurred brisk sales of original products in such categories as bakery and desserts. The Rilakkuma Fair runs until the end of October.
In October, in addition to the aforementioned Rilakkuma Fair, LAWSON will begin accepting orders for Christmas cakes, year-end gifts and printed New Year's greeting cards.
- As of September 3, 2007, in addition to our nationwide network of regular LAWSON stores, we had 96 NATURAL LAWSON and 70 LAWSON STORE100 stores.
- LAWSON announces its interim results for the fiscal year ending February 29, 2008, on October 10, 2007. The earnings release and supplementary materials posted on this web site.
