Total sales for July 2007 were 128,590 million yen, up 2.7% year on year. Existing store sales declined 0.5% and average daily sales per store were 494,000 yen. The average amount spent per customer was 589 yen, up 1.4%, and the average number of customers per store per day was 835, down 1.9%.
There was a decline of approximately 2 percentage points in existing store sales compared to a year earlier when sales were boosted by a rush of demand for cigarettes ahead of a tax hike on July 1, 2006. This was because sales booked after 13:30 on June 30, 2006 were recorded in July; LAWSON closes its books at 13:30 each day.

Sales of cooked noodles, soft drinks and ice cream, which experience seasonable fluctuations in demand, dropped year on year due to lower-than-average temperatures and a large typhoon that affected a wide area of Japan extending from Kyushu to Western Japan.
In the rice dishes category, sales were down as a whole year on year, despite recovering rice ball sales.
On July 1, LAWSON launched a Miffy-themed shopping point campaign. Products eligible for shopping points such as prepared breads, desserts and bakery items sold well. The campaign runs until the end of August.
As of July 31, 2007, we had 109 NATURAL LAWSON and 69 LAWSON STORE100 stores, in addition to our nationwide network of regular LAWSON stores.
