TOKYO, JAPAN, 6 26, 2018

Lawson, Inc. (“Lawson”) announces that the Preliminary Examination of License of Banking Business conducted by Japan’s Financial Services Agency (“FSA”) at Lawson’s subsidiary, the Lawson Bank Preparatory Company, Inc. (“LBP”), has now been completed, on June 26, 2018. LBP’s intention to apply for this license, based on Article 4, Item 1 of Japan’s Banking Act and Article 2 of the Ordinance for Enforcement of the Banking Act, was originally announced in the March 26, 2018 news release: “Lawson Bank Preparatory Company, Inc. to apply for the Preliminary Examination of License of Banking Business, and enter into syndicated loan agreement.”

With the preliminary examination now complete, LBP will continue with preparations required of institutions applying to the FSA for a banking license as determined by Article 4 of the Banking Act.

The completion of the preliminary examination will not affect Lawson’s consolidated results for the fiscal year ending February 2019.
